Sad loss...

You often don't know what you've got till its gone is a phrase that's chucked around a lot...and the truth is, often you don't!

On Tuesday 12th Jan at about 11.45pm while I lay in bed I found out the awful news that a colleague was found dead in his flat. I went to sleep that night with my brain racing trying to work out what had happened! The next day the whole of the message where brought together to be told about the devastating news of John Mhango's death. John was just 28 years old.

It's now Thursday 14th and I have just come out of the normal daily 30 min prayer meeting and we spent time reflecting and remembering John. We shared about his life and our own memories of him!
Flip it was so hard to hear but also very helpful for the office and his department in the mourning process. So many people had different memories of John and different stories. What was clear was that John was a man who was a true legend and will be greatly missed. He was strong in his faith, Loved Jesus and people, encouraging, funny, cool, loved, gentle, humble, loyal, thoughtful....the list could go on and this isn't an exaggeration!

So as we process the events of the week here at the office, whether we where colleagues or close friends we have all have lost a person that will be greatly missed. As we walk through the office and see his empty chair the words that we heard in prayers will come to mind and we will remember a great man and our tears of sadness can turn to tears of joy for a man who we where privileged to have as part of our lives!

RIP John...love ya brother!

  1. A sharing time is a poignant way of helping to remember someone is such a positive way. Praise God for Jons life and for all he gave to the people around him. Thinking of you all.
